Timothy Chou
Founder of Pediatric Moonshot
Dr. Timothy Chou retired from Oracle Corporation as the first President of the cloud computing business. He returned to Stanford University in 2005 and started the first class on cloud computing, which has since featured guest lectures from more than 100 public company CEOs.
In 2020, Timothy came out of retirement to pursue the Pediatric Moonshot, aligning his actions with the mantra he shares in his closing lectures: “To those much is given, much is expected.”

How it all Started
Inspired by a Stanford University student
Several years ago, a unique student enrolled in Timothy’s Stanford class: Dr. Anthony Chang, who went on to become a leader in AI in medicine.
Through Anthony, Timothy learned that even with all the technology available, the healthcare system was (and in many cases still is) relying on CD-ROMs (or at best, USB drives) to transfer critical health data. He also discovered that, unlike consumer AI, medical AI was advancing far more slowly because accuracy depends on access to large, diverse datasets—something the system lacked.
Comprehensive Expertise
Our Team
The Pediatric Moonshot team is made up of experienced professionals united by a commitment to improving children’s health through innovation and collaboration.
We bring diverse expertise spanning technology, healthcare, and business, and we work side by side to design solutions that are practical, ethical, and impactful.
What connects us is a shared belief in equity and access, that every child deserves the benefit of advanced medicine, no matter where they live. Together, we are building the foundation for a healthier future.
A Nonprofit Organization
Board & Governance
Pediatric Moonshot is governed by a Board of Directors that provides oversight and strategic guidance. The board helps ensure that our nonprofit mission is advanced with transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
An Ambitious Initiative
Our relationship with BevelCloud
BevelCloud was founded to solve a core challenge in children’s healthcare: traditional, centralized AI cannot handle the massive data sizes, strict security, and stringent privacy needs of pediatric medicine. Its distributed, privacy-preserving AI cloud brings applications directly to where the data lives—whether in hospitals, labs, or ambulances.
While BevelCloud powers the infrastructure, Pediatric Moonshot is an independent nonprofit with its own governance and purpose. Together, we combine leading-edge technology with a singular mission to drive sustainable impact in pediatric healthcare.
